Arrow Recap: Salvation

Tonight’s episode begins with an excellent view of a shirtless Oliver doing some impressive pull-ups while Diggle and Felicity brief him on their latest target-John Nichols a wealthy real estate development who owns several properties in the Glades, but he so happens to be one of the dirtiest slum lords in the city. His buildings are notorious for not being up to code, and are in dire need for fixing so much so, seven people have frozen to death in the last three years do lack of improper heating.

Well, it looks like Nichols wheelings and dealing won’t be happening for much longer, as he will soon face the judgement of The Hood later on that night. However, when The Hood does appear at Nichols’ penthouse to dispense justice, instead he fines the aftermath of what looks like an abduction. Oliver reports back what he has found and has Felicity run a search on who could have a grudge against Nichols. Felicity points out that wouldn’t it be counter productive to search and try to save Nichols, if they were going just to kill him in the end? Oliver points out that he doesn’t like someone else dangerous out there, who may not have the same level of restraint that he has.

As for Roy and Thea, well they have certainly moved rather quickly from non-existent relationship to heavily making out on Roy’s couch. The new lovebirds are interrupted though by someone knocking at Roy’s front door. A man drops off a mysterious package and mentions that he is expected to be at a certain location at llpm. Roy tries dance around Thea’s questions about the package, but Thea gets her has on it anyways and finds the gun inside. Roy tells her that he owes a lot money to some dangerous people and in order to pay them back he needs to rob a liquor store to do so. The pair get into a fight, with Thea storming out of Roy”s place calling him just a “waste.

Diggle noticing that Oliver is ready to dive back into another case, pulls Oliver back before he can get to submersed. He takes Oliver out to dinner to try to talk to him and figure out why he is so hellbent secluding himself from other people. But halfway through the dinner, they noticed that all the patrons’ phones in the diner are going off. Felicity calls them with the news that she has found Nichols’ and sends them a video link that they need to watch. According to Felicity a broadcast live stream video called the “Glades Betrayed” is being sent to everyone who has an IP address in the Glades showing Nichols’ being held bound and gagged. An unknown man, behind the camera begins to list the “crimes” Nichols’ has committed against the people of the Glades and decides to pass his own judgement. He has been found guilty, thus is shot multiple times and killed. The video ends with the unknown man asking who will be next, leaving Oliver and his crew racing against time to find this man before he makes another video.

Everyone reconvenes in the hideout where Felicity is doing everything she can to track down this man down. Diggle comes back information that this man is a former cyber criminal that used to go by the name “Savior,” the thing is that up until a year the “Savior” hasn’t been heard of, since now. Unfortunately, another broadcast video starts stream, this time it is district attorney who is has been kidnapped. The “Savior” list the crimes against the man and references the murder of his own wife, which leads the group to identify the “Savior” as Joseph Falk. Felicity is able to locate where Falk is broadcasting from, but is unable to shut it down. Oliver in a race against time hopes on the back of his motorcycle speeding to Falk’s location.

Oliver arrives at the building where the attorney is supposedly being held and systematically goes room by room and floor by floor to find him, but he comes up empty. Falk’s IP location ends up moving just north of where Oliver is. Not wasting anytime Oliver with some very handy parkour moves from building to building then jumping down a flight of fire escapes onto a moving van into upcoming traffic to finally reach his destination, which ends up being an a vacant lot with Falk nor the attorney in sight. Nevertheless, the planned execution goes as plan and another victim has been added to the list.

Now for Laurel well she isn’t to pleased to find her mother has taken over her dinning room with research on finding Sarah alive. Actually, Laurel is more than shocked to find out that her father is helping instead of trying to make her mother realize that Sarah is dead and she isn’t coming back. Laurel does her own researching and reaches out to a friend at the Chinese consulate to ask if they know anything about the girl in the photo, her mother keeps referencing as Sarah. She finds out that the girl in the photo is already back in the states and it isn’t her sister. Laurel has the unfortunate job of being the bearer of bad news and relies the information to her mother and father. Her mother is completely beside herself when she learns that the girl in the photo isn’t Sarah and storms out of Laurel’s office in a fit of tears.

Back at Roy’s, Thea shows up right before Roy is supposed to leave for the robbery and the duo once again fight about the choices Roy is making. During their argument, the “Savior” shows up knocking Thea to the ground and drugging and kidnapping Roy. The “Savior” broadcasts another video, this time with Roy as the latest target. Oliver finds out that Thea knows Roy and he sets out to ensure that what happened last doesn’t happen again.

He brings Shado, Yao Fei’s daughter and threatens to shoot her if they don’t have what he wants. Oliver and Slade realize that Fyres has been using Shado as leverage in order to keep Yao in line.

Quentin and Laurel find Dinah packing up her research and that is when Laurel relies how could her mother know that Sarah took her sports hat on Oliver’s yacht? With Laurel pressing on the issue, Dinah breaks and reveals that she ran into Sarah while she was packing for the trip aboard Oliver’s yacht. She breaks down crying, saying that she killed her daughter.

Felicity, Diggle and Oliver all work together in trying to find Roy. Diggle is the one to figure out that Falk is using the city’s old subway cars and tunnels to broadcast the videos and why it seemed that he was shifting locations. The Hood is able to find Roy before Falk can carry out his sentence, but ultimately he has to kill Falk in order to save Roy’s life.

Flashback: Fyres gives Slade and Oliver one last to hand over the circuit boards before he shoots Shado, but in a blink of any eye, Shado with some impressive moves of her own takes down her captors with Oliver, Slade and Yao taking the down the rest. As a the hand-to-hand combat quickly turns into a firefight, the group flees. Yao is shot in the leg and orders Oliver and Slade to take his daughter and run and leave him behind. They do and decide to retrieve and move the circuit boards they have kept hidden, except when they come upon its location they find the circuit boards are missing and mostly likely with Fyres. Shado informs them that she knows what Fyres is up too and with them working together they can take down Fyres and his men once and for all.

The episode ends with Moira informing Frank that she handed over information to Malcolm of his involvement with the assassination attempt. While the two are talking the Dark Archer appears killing Frank right in front of Moira. Before the archer leaves he passes along Malcolm’s thanks for her assistance in apprehending the killer.
